Yin Yoga

Release Deep Tension. Restore Balance.

Yin Yoga classes in Raleigh, NC

A slow, gentle practice that balances the more active parts of your day and restores the body to its natural, settled state. Whether you’re lifting weights, running, doing pilates, playing your favorite game, or simply worn down by everyday stress, Yin Yoga helps you unwind tight muscles and release deep-seated tension.

Unlike more active yoga and exercise styles, Yin targets the body’s deeper layers — fascia, ligaments, and joints — where stress, old injuries, and repetitive movement often settle over time. Postures are slow, done seated or lying down, and held for several breaths to a few minutes, with props like bolsters and blocks providing support so every pose fits your body.

An ideal complement to a more active lifestyle, and especially helpful for anyone seeking better range of motion or relief from tension and anxiety — slow-paced, highly adaptable, and suitable for all ages and levels, no experience necessary.

Come and experience deep relaxation, improved flexibility, and renewed mobility.

My particular approach to teaching Yin emphasizes deep relaxation and true release, helping you let go of tension at your own pace. What you learn on the mat — how to truly relax — then becomes something you can carry with you, helping you release tension off the mat as well.

If that’s of interest to you, be sure to check the schedule to see when I’m teaching.

    • Improves circulation and enhances the flow of energy (prana/chi) throughout the body.
    • Supports joint health by maintaining and improving range of motion.
    • Releases muscular and fascial tension, easing chronic tightness from stress, injury, or repetitive movement.
    • Stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body shift from “fight or flight” to “rest and digest.”
    • Enhances posture and alignment through greater awareness of body mechanics and balance.
    • Aids recovery from more active yoga styles, workouts, or daily physical strain.
    • Promotes tissue hydration and elasticity, keeping the body supple and resilient.
